There is nothing that brings me more joy celebrating a couple’s love, especially on their wedding day. It’s no secret that I fully believe that love is love; as a queer wedding photographer, it is my mission to ensure that every couple’s love story is celebrated. So when Brent and Jay mentioned in their inquiry that they were searching for a queer-friendly photographer, I was so stoked to connect with them. Walking alongside them as they planned their Olympic Sculpture Park wedding in Downtown Seattle felt like just hanging out with two old friends, and I couldn’t have loved the experience more.

Wedding in Downtown Seattle | Seattle Art Museum Wedding
I first met Brent and Jay for an in-person consult at a local brewery. I always love when an opportunity arises to connect with a local couple — it’s way better than hopping on FaceTime! Over some beers, Brent and Jay shared what they were envisioning for their Seattle wedding day. They had already legally married so they prioritized spending time with their favorite people on their wedding day. While they definitely still valued alone time on their wedding day, their main priority was gathering alongside their friends and family, both old and new.
As big Seattle-lovers, Brent and Jay knew they wanted a wedding venue that would highlight the culture and views of the city. The Seattle Art Museum, specifically the Olympic Sculpture Park, peeked their interest as it checked all the boxes. Not only has this sweet couple spent tons of time walking through the park throughout their relationship, but now the space is even more special to them to revisit! As everything fell into place, we excitedly awaited the arrival of their “best day ever.”

Brent and Jay’s downtown Seattle wedding day began at The Edgewater Hotel. They spent a relaxing afternoon getting ready overlooking Elliot Bay, taking in the breathtaking views and bright sunshine. After they were dressed to the nines, we began to make our way to their ceremony space. They chose the Bill and Melinda Gates Amphitheater within the Olympic Sculpture Park. Gorgeous fall foliage surrounded us as we walked the half mile from The Edgewater Hotel. Once we arrived to their venue, Brent and Jay had a moment to themselves as guests found their seats. Something I absolutely loved about their wedding day was after they welcomed their parents, they walked down the aisle together hand-in-hand. It was such a beautiful reminder of the unity of marriage.
There couldn’t have been a more picturesque Fall day for Brent and Jay’s wedding day. I will never get just how rich and vibrant the Fall colors were surrounding the amphitheater as this sweet couple expressed their love for one another in the presence of their most cherished people. After the ceremony, guests moved up to the patio to start the party. Brent and Jay centered the evening’s theme around their pup, Stout. As guests mingled and enjoyed delicious food and drinks from Shooby Doo Catering, I snagged Brent and Jay for some romantics on the lawn. We were blown away by the bright orange sunset filling the sky as we strolled through the park.

Brent and Jay’s Olympic Sculpture Park wedding in downtown Seattle wrapped up with dancing the night away and making a grand exit through glow sticks. Celebrating alongside Brent, Jay, and their favorite people was the best way to spend a Fall day in Seattle.
